Nancy Lea
Nancy is a E-RYT 500 yoga teacher and Co-Founder of Brahman Yoga School, with more than 20 years of practice and 13 years of teaching.
Based in Seattle, WA, Nancy leads weekly studio classes; offers private yoga sessions; and facilitates yoga retreats in the Pacific Northwest and in several international locations. Her classes integrate the rich and relevant teachings of the eight limbs of yoga, and each class is anchored in breath and philosophy.
For Nancy, yoga infuses daily living with a sense of joy, wonderment, and peace. She encourages her students to move beyond their physical practice and to allow the insight and self-awareness to flow into their lives off the mat. Her teaching has been described as nourishing, clear, insightful and “a beautiful, peaceful practice that strengthens the body and calms the mind.”
In 2021, Nancy completed her 300-hour training with ISHTA Yoga (Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda), and she is grateful for the guidance and wisdom she received from her teachers Yogiraj Alan Finger, Sarah Platt-Finger, Mona Anand, and Peter Ferko and Wendy Newton.
Nancy believes that our wisest teacher lies within us and guides us through the world with grace and compassion. She humbly shares this sacred practice of yoga from a place of deep respect for and knowledge of the ancient teachings, her own teachers, and all the teachers that came before them.

Philosophy
Brahman is a foundational concept in yogic philosophy, rooted in the ancient teachings of the Upanishads. It points to the underlying essence of life as an infinite, unchanging presence that exists within and around everything.
Rather than something abstract or distant, Brahman can be understood as the deeper ground of being, the awareness beneath thought, the stillness beneath movement and the thread that connects all of life.
In a modern context, this invites a shift in how we relate to yoga.
Practice becomes more than something we do with our bodies; it becomes a way of reconnecting with ourselves and with something greater. Beneath our roles, identities, and conditioning, there is a shared essence that is whole, steady, and inherently connected.
Through practices such as movement, breath, meditation, and self-inquiry, students begin to experience moments of presence, clarity, and connection that arise naturally when we slow down and listen. The teachings begin to resonate not just as concepts or abstract ideas, but as something to be felt and lived.
In our training, Brahman serves as both a philosophical foundation and a lived inquiry. It invites us to teach from presence, to see and honor the shared humanity in each student, and to approach yoga as a practice of remembering our wholeness. It is not something we achieve, but our true nature to which we return.
